What’s The Reason To Play As A Shaman In World Of Warcraft?

Did you know that Thrall, the Warlord of the Horde and one of the primary characters of Warcraft lore, is a shaman?  Born as a green skinned orc and raised by noble humans, Thrall developed into a master of the elements and climbed the throne to establish himself as one of Azeroth’s most powerful characters.

If asked for just one word to descrive the shaman class, without blinking, the word to be given should be “versatile.”

A shammy can be a master of all trades.  Though he can never master any without speccing for the same, a shaman is still an excellent hybrid class, one of the best – if not the absolute finest – in this MMORPG we call WoW.

As a resto shammy, you will be a very much sought after healer in 25 man raids.  In end game boss battles, splash damage – or injuries suffered by players within a certain area near the boss – will be inevitable.  Single target healers like paladins, tree druids and priests will have a challenging time keeping people alive.  But not the shaman.  As a resto shammy, you will possess one powerful weapon: chain heal.  A single cast of this potent spell will heal a trio of people at once.  Keep casting chain heal and you are guaranteed to top healing tables for every raid.

As a shaman focusing on the enhancement tree, you will be wanted in 25 man setups too.  it’s not because of your chain heal this time, as the effectiveness of that spell will be greatly diminished, but for one move that will transform you into the most favorite person for physical DPS dealers: windfury totem.  Windfury totem will give the members of your party the opportunity to deal extra damage with jacked up coefficients, upping their damage output tremendously.  And as an enhancement shammy, you will be dealing incredible DPS yourself.

As a shammy especially specced in the elemental tree, you will be mostly compared to a mage.  Though you will be deprived of the mana resourcefulness of mages, you will have a move that will compensate for the same and will make mana-using classes love you: mana regeneration.  Drop mana spring totem and you will have a neverending stream of regenerating mana.  When the party completely runs out of mana, drop mana tide totem and watch their bars fill up by a quarter of full tank.

Despite the nature of hisspec, a shammy is tasked to provide backup heals when the main healers die or become incapacitated.  Given the flexible nature of the character type, this should not be a problem for an experienced shaman.

Warcraft is an absolutely huge game, and very frequently people can feel lost when they begin. You will need a WoW hunter guide if you’re looking to increase your level from 0 to 80 in less than a week. You can find a WoW hunter guide at www.wow-hunter-guide.net
