Virtual Spa Days Are A Reality
The technological advancements we see every year are quite extraordinary. We were amazed by flat screen TV’s, mobile phones where apparently powered by witch-craft and most people still don’t really know how a microwave oven works. Most technology we see these days is all about making everything that bit faster, bigger, stronger or more intense. This said, there is one new technology that aims to slow things down, chill us out, and make us feel better.
The virtual spa is a online computer program that aims to simulate the experience of being at a health spa. Developed by Restless Creations in London, It uses a virtual head set to immerse the user in luxury spa surroundings. You can wonder around the spa and check out all the different themed areas, even suggesting new ones that you would like to see. You can plug your own selection of relaxing music into the game and even book in for a luxurious body polish or massage if you’d like. There is an optional attachment of a vibrating chair pad that can simulate having different spa treatments. Other activities include going for a swim, having a sauna and even playing croquet.
The people who made the game say that their tests showed that resting heart rate could be decreased up to 25% by simply playing the game for more than 20 mins. They hope to aim the product as people who suffer from stress or anxiety or who love spa days but don’t necessarily have the money to pay for them frequently. They hope that once the game takes off they will be able to start sending out real skin care products to gamers so that can complete that spa experience without leaving the house
