Great For The Cost – Trial Antivirus Software Review
Well my performance is now noticeably slower but still within reason. After a day or 2 my CPU settled back down to about 1% on idle and only an additional 10% of my memory. As always NIS remains user friendly and IMO the best and most convenient way to secure all 3 of my computers. There are many Internet Security programs out there.
I did this over web chat. It did take 20 minutes to get to someone on a Saturday afternoon, but there was a time estimate and showed me my place in line.
You can avoid this by buying the product on amazon. It is easy to load, and you do not have to deal with the nitwits at Norton directly, clearly a win-win situation.
There is a link to the FBI to report criminal behavior due to viral infections. I love this security software, it’s so easy to use and it doesn’t slow down my laptop like other security software. The features have been described in other reviews. I purchased NIS from Amazon rather than “renewing” my subscription from last year’s version, because it saves quite a bit of money.
Symantec product support has not been helpful. Uninstalling the program and putting 2010 back on completely solved the problem on the Win 7 ultimate system. So I simply disable it (simplest way is to right click on the upper portion of the toolbar and uncheck the Norton option). Other than that, NIS appears to run well in the background with little impact on the speed of either machine I use. This is why I prefer Macs; you don’t have all this aggravation. I like Norton especially since they improved it. After installation, Norton Internet Security even found a suspicious file that Avira had missed (and yes, this was most likely a true security threat based on where I got the file-if you know what I mean). The interface is very intuitive, but you’re likely to not have to go into it very deeply. Deleting all or no cookies is so early Microsoft IE, which they even fixed (well, to a point). I have used Norton security since the days of Peter Norton and DOS, although there were a few years when the product was so slow and bloated that I used other security products.
Let me start by saying that I have been using Norton products since their initial inception. Over the years I have tried using, on a test basis, most every internet security program available.
Great product without slowing down your system! I avoided using anything Symantec- the developers of Norton Internet Security, years ago because of poorly designed, bloated software. For those who have complained that installing Norton takes away your remaining subscription time for your current Norton product, I fully agree that is unacceptable. I can only assume that the new installation wipes the old installation and therefore resets the subscription to 365 days, regardless of whether you had days remaining on your existing Norton subscription. We have used Norton internet protection for several years. My husband is a computer programmer and this is the system they use at his work.
The memory-resident protection takes up 1-2% of CPU cycles at most. laundry room cabinets design.
