Gaming Consoles and Games – Should You Buy Them New or Used?

Stretching your money to afford a new game or two for your gaming console is hard enough to do today. Buying a new gaming system is outrageous. But what are you to do when your old one decides it has played it’s last game? There are a couple of choices. You can either go spend your hard earned money and buy a new system, which could possibly be $500 or more or you can go to the discount store in your area.

You are aware of the store. There is one in almost every area today. They buy and sell used music, games and movies. They also may be able to find items they do not have in stock by ordering them. This is the place that the serious game player, movie watchers and music listeners go to just hang. They also could be the people who work there.

They may not look like they know anything about video games or movies, but this is just a fluke. They know exactly what they are talking about when it comes to this business and they are not trying to sell you anything just to be making a sell. They feel that you are just like them; you want something you will enjoy. As a matter of fact, they often go home from work and play the very games they sell.

One of the things people misunderstand about these places and a conventional retailer is that a brand new game will always be cheaper at a discount warehouse. If it’s new, and people haven’t had a chance to play the game long enough to beat it, it’s going to be the same retail price anywhere you go. As people have had a chance to beat the game and move on, then you will see previously owned or rented games appearing for a reduced price. It is still going to cost you thirty dollars or more, because it’s in high demand, but not enough of a supply.

The games and systems that you will be perusing at the discount outlets will not be broken or missing parts. These still have to be in good shape to sell. Often they may be in better shape or gamers would not be spending their money at the discount shops. A low price on a game only means that it is not as popular as when it first came out or they have quite a few of them.

A discount warehouse can be a great place to trade in older games you aren’t playing anymore for newer better ones. You may not get half of what you bought it for brand new, and you will probably get more in store credit than cash. You will always have a supply of different games to play.

Here are some things you should expect from a discount store, and some you can expect from most other retailers. The first thing is that unless there is some kind of manufacturing defect with the product, you are not going to be able to return it just because you didn’t like it. While discount warehouses try their best to sell you a product that works, if it breaks after you buy it, you have little or no recourse. Older games, like regular X-Box, or Playstation One games you probably will have a hard time finding, or trading in, and you may be better of trying to sell them online.
