Can You Really Unlock Your Iphone?

In short, Jailbreak is the process of hacking an iPhone to free it from Apple restrictions.

The iPhone is a good product. But it’s far from perfect. As a result, millions of iPhone owners have looked to the best jailbreak software to unlock their phone so that they can then improve the iOS. The iPhone suffers from a severe lack of customizability, lack of privacy, and more. When you jailbreak, though, you can fix these problems and many others with apps, patches, and plugins available in the Cydia marketplace.

Cydia and Installer are what are referred to as “package managers”. This is really just a fancy way of saying that they are a repository for 3rd party, unofficial apps.

In order to understand the difference between Cydia and the regular iTunes app store is to understand that Apple only wants apps to be able to do certain things. Cydia and Installer have a very limited apps approval process – you can pretty much upload any app that you create.

Why Jailbreak iPhone?

First – It removes any and all restrictions that Apple puts on your phone. Of course, you still might not be able to use the phone as a deathray, but if someone created an app for that, you would be able to install it even if Apple didn’t want you to. Want to customize your icons? Create a custom, homebrewed app? Jailbreaking is the only way to do it.

Secondly – Join the jailbreaking counterculture! There is a whole community of people who are intrigued by the idea of open source development for the iPhone. You’ll meet all kinds of cool people who want to free the iPhone from Apple’s restrictive grasp.

3)Unlock iPhone. To unlock your iPhone and use it on any carrier, you must first Jailbreak your iPhone. Some of the Jailbreak solutions below also allow you to unlock the iPhone, though unlocking is generally beyond the scope of this tutorial.

Reasons NOT to Jailbreak Your Phone

1)The folks at Apple know what they are doing. They have not enabled multasking – the ability for apps to run in the background, simultaneously – most likely because it is a huge battery drain. By controlling the user experience, Apple ensures that your iPhone “just works,” and you don’t have to worry about managing battery life or any other technical details.

2)There is the slight possibility that jailbreaking could brick your iPhone. This is where the jailbreak process gets messed up, and your phone is frozen until you restore it to factory defaults. Huge pain in the butt.

Third – You can’t update your phone with new releases of iTunes. New releases might have cool new features, but they also contain patches that will “un-jailbreak” your phone.

Fourth – The minute that you jailbreak your iPhone, the warranty is null and void. So if you accidentally brick it, or even drop it or something – you are on your own and stuck paying for any repairs out of pocket.
