Are You Being Swayed by Freebies?
Who does not like free stuff? Getting something for free is an incredible bonus in today’s economy. But sometimes free things, especially software, are not exactly what you need. This is true with stock tracking software more than anything. Far too often that “free” software turns out to be a waste of your time. You may not have spent any money but you have not gotten any benefit or it is so outdated that it is useless. StockTicker 2005 is a good example of this.
StockTicker 2005 offered by Indigo Wind at www.indigowind.com is a “free” software that allows you to track your stock market investments. It allows you to customize your stocks and input various data to monitor these stocks. And it is not limited to stocks alone. The software also supports mutual funds and other investments. You can also trade stocks through this software to all major brokerage houses. Sounds really good right? It sounds even better because it is free.
Ah, but that is where Indigo Wind gets you. Though the software is technically free and you can download it, it used to cost $24.95 to register the software. The bright side is that now you no longer have to register it since Indigo Wind is no longer registering any software. Which brings up a very important point. The name alone should cue you in to the fact that the software is a bit outdated. Yes, it is still free and it still can track stocks and investments but it does not have the features and abilities that many other stock tracking software has built in. In comparison to other stock market tracking software, this one falls short of the mark. It is outdated and does not give you the advantages that you absolutely need when managing your own stock portfolio.
StockTicker 2005 is not for everyone but there seldom is a stock tracking software that is able to meet everyone’s needs. The best part of the software, besides being free, is that you can use it as a learning tool without spending a dime. This is great for the novice investor who just wants to learn how these types of programs work. Many of the features of the software are the same that costlier programs utilize. So though you are getting something for nothing, it does have a few benefits.
