Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition And What Happened To The Unlock Codes

Adobe has long been known as a star in the digital image editing world and the Adobe Photoshop Album Starter was excellent for editing sharing and organizing image files for windows users. Although, a Mac version was planned it never materialized. This software contained the basic tools which would permit an amateur photographer to share their treasured memories and organize them in a useful fashion as well as basic correction features such as red eye correction. As good as this image editing program was, it has been discontinued by Adobe and is no longer supported.

This image editing software made photo correction the matter of only a couple of clicks. Slide shows could even include captions and emailing photos was made super simple with the Photoshop Album Starter. While this software is basic it meets the needs of most amateur digital photographers.

This program is still available as a free download through Adobe and other sites. However as of May 2009 all support for the product was discontinued. Downloading and installation for Windows users is a relatively simple matter of downloading a very small 6 MB file and unzipping it. The system requirements are minimal when compared to the capabilities of most computers today.

Once the program is installed and started it will offer to scan the entire hard drive or selected locations for images. It will then save them as thumbnails for easy reference or organization later. Images can be filed by tags, captions can be added and images moved or edited as desired. It makes browsing images much easier for the average computer user.

After the program has been used 25 times it will lock and prompt the user to register to obtain a free code to unlock it. Registration is a very simple matter requiring only the input of some basic information such as email address name, and the country in which the person registering lives. Once this information is given the individual is prompted to check their email for the registration code to unlock the program.

Until May of 2009 when support was discontinued for this Adobe product there would be an email in the user’s inbox from Adobe with a code which would unlock the software. However, now the letter contains an apology and statement that support for the product is no longer available. The software will remain locked although the Adobe letter will contain a website suggestion for photo sharing.

Adobe still makes top of the line software for image manipulation and digital photo correction. The Album software is basic, easy to use and unfortunately limited in the number of uses before it becomes irrevocably locked. This particular software was intended to be a preview of what the software consumer could expect from Adobe Elements.

On the bright side no images are moved or lost by this Adobe software or Microsoft software once it becomes locked and unusable, and for 25 uses it performs flawlessly. If this software was downloaded and installed on a computer after May 2009 uninstalling it afterwards is a simple matter and no photos will be lost in the process. The album starter edition although still free to use for a limited time is not a software package that will be available for long term use and another alternative should be selected.
